Hometown: Milano

Ella Codesta, pseudonym of Martina Firinu, class 1996, was born in Milan but has lived in different cities and Italian regions since she was a kid. When she was 14, she formed her first band, Fendy the turtle, a female grunge band inspired by the 90s and bands like Hole, Nirvana, Babes in toyland.

 

Once this experience was over, at the age of 19, she started writing songs in italian influenced by the new italian indie-scene of the moment, and by artists like Le luci della centrale elettrica, Maria antonietta, Marta sui tubi, with a bit of a nostalgia sound from songwriters like Guccini, Lucio Dalla.

 

This is how Ella Codesta was born, her solo project with more of a singer-songwriter sound. In 2019 she published her first album "Intolleranze ".
